2 special Art Deco vases of pewter and wood with modernist décor. With monogram of Nilsson: GN. The vases are in beautiful used condition, dented on the edges.
I have not been able to find it in the reference book: "Gero, zilver voor het volk [silver for the people]". So I think the vases seem rare. Without a doubt a museum piece.
It has a height of approx. 19 cm.
ø: approx. 12.5 cm
In 1922 Gero opened a factory in Copenhagen, Denmark where they mainly manufactured products for the Danish market. In this period Georg Nilsson worked in Copenhagen and started designing for Gero.
In 1933 the factory closed its doors in Denmark and Georg Nilsson moved to Zeist.
His work is very recognisable with peculiar designs for that time such as the use of animal ornaments. Before World War II, Georg Nilsson designed cutlery models that were characterised by Art Deco shapes, hammered forms or in the form of a cartouche. After the war, his designs became more sleek and functionalistic.
