This serigraph was distributed as award to first class customers of Lufthansa Airlines as a part of their ‘Artists of the World’ series, in 1985.
Prof. Edgar Knoop (born 22 March 1936 in Dortmund) is a German painter, object artist and photographer. He lives and works in Seeboden in Austria.
Knoop began his studies in 1957 at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich in the area of philosophy and art history, and moved in 1960 to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. There, he studied painting and graphic arts with Jean-Jacques Deyrolle and art education at Anton Müller Marx and graduated in 1965 as a master student with the state examination. 1972 began teaching at the Munich Academy; Knoop taught there until 2000 as a professor of the Department of Experimental and Applied Color Theory. In 1997 he received an honorary professor of the Department of Architecture at the Technical University in Tbilisi, Georgia.
