A strong painting by this gerne painter Hendrik Hulk, from a family of largely marine painters, learned the profession of his father Abraham Hulk. In 1858, he came from Enkhuizen to Haarlem, where he painted ships on the Spaarne, beach views with ships and Zuiderzee views. In the 1990s, he was at the height of his fame and sold a lot abroad. This painting is in very good condition - both in the original frame (hard wood). Signed at the bottom right. The parts of the painting that have been under the frame can be cleaned a little more. Furthermore, if you put it back in the original frame, you can just enjoy it and ask the question did the ships make it or not ...
