"Octidi Watch & Co." dashboard clock - Aviazione Militare Italiana Italy, Kingdom, 1st World War (1916). Dial in white enamel with Arabic numerals and central seconds, bearing the inscriptions: "AVIAZIONE MILITARE ITALIANA" and "8 Giorni"; Timepiece with double casing in nickel iron, hinged at the back, large size (d = 6.7 cm); Octidi Watch 8 Days Patent movement on 16 jewels, 2 adjustments, Breguet overcoil, mono metallic balance wheel, barrel inlaid with floral motifs, movement bearing the initials: "D. T.A. M." (Direzione Tecnica Aviazione Militare) topped by Royal Crown; under the initials, a propeller representing the Military Aviation (at the time still part of the Royal Army; the Royal Air Force would not be created until 1923). Used as onboard clock on the earliest models of military reconnaissance biplanes, such as the Savoia Pomilio SP.1, commissioned to FIAT in 1916.
