With the dogs in the baskets are some chips missing from the ears.
The story goes that this set of porcelain dogs, also called "hooker dogs", refer to them being used by prostitutes in the past, the figurines would be placed with their noses towards the room if there was a customer and towards the window whenever a lady was free.
